SAVING THE WORLD? OR JUST DATA?
If you're a new player, or even just been to an arcade with BEMANI games at all recently, you might have noticed a reader that looks like this (right) or found yourself interested in those little cards every regular seems to be carrying around!

This is an E-Amusement Reader, and it enables you to save your progress on any given game that supports it and is connected to a network. Cool, right?
However, there are a few barriers to entry.
1. Is the cabinet connected to a network?
There are several networks you'll find throughout the UK, all of which are fan-created and maintained.
They lend their services to arcades with e-amuse capable machines, to get people all over Europe online and playing together, as there is no official Konami network support for our region.
Usually, games say at the bottom of the secreen during their attract mode if they're connected to a network, or you can ask around at your arcade of choice.
2. Do you have an E-Amusement card?
E-Amusement cards come in all kinds of designs, versions, and obtainment methods! The very first e-amuses were swipe cards, but the ones compatible with the majority of machines today utilise NFC chips. For this reason, it's possible to emulate a card on NFC-capable Android devices using eAMEMu by juchan1220! Thankyou to Juwubeat for the heads up about that one!

However, if you want your very own physical card, these can be purchased at your local BEMANI arcade, on independent western rhythm gaming stores, or on Japanese second-hand services like Mercari!
Getting your card working on a network is simply a matter of using it for the first time on a cabinet, creating a username and PIN, and then registering on their website with the Card ID if you'd like to change your settings and see your scores in browser.
My Cards:
My e-Amusement collection was previously on display at 2025's BitterSweet Harajuku Haven exhibition, but they've now safely been returned to me ^_^)/
I currently own three e-amuses, those being a Pop'n Music card (1st Edition), a standard Aime card, and a Bombergirl Rainbow newgen e-Amuse!
An Aime card works the exact same as a regular e-Amuse, only it has access to a handful more (non-rhythm) games. Citation: [LINK]
I keep my e-amuse on a lanyard for easier access, after meeting someone at Arcade Club Bury who did the same ^_^ This photo is clickable to enlarge!
